Chelsea Diagnostic Radiology (CDR) has long been a leader in private-practice diagnostic imaging, offering a comprehensive range of services including MRI, angiography, CT, mammography, ultrasonography, bone densitometry (DEXA), and X-ray. With a growing patient base and the need to upgrade its imaging technology, CDR engaged Crown to lead the design and implementation of a full equipment and infrastructure overhaul.
“Crown is the most knowledgeable design firm we have worked with to date, especially with an undertaking of this size. ”— Randy Hay
To minimize operational disruptions, the project was executed in carefully planned phases. Crown managed all aspects of demolition and shoring to remove outdated equipment, while also coordinating the strategic placement of new machines to meet strict safety regulations—including required clearances for nuclear materials. The updated facility now includes state-of-the-art MRI systems, a Nuclear Camera, and a PET CT Scanner.
In addition to the imaging upgrades, the 5,500-square-foot, two-story facility underwent a complete renovation of its supporting spaces, including waiting areas, nursery stations, hot labs, equipment rooms, control areas, and restrooms. Crown also oversaw the required mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, and plumbing upgrades to accommodate the new high-performance medical technology.
Throughout the phased construction process, Crown ensured that CDR’s operations remained uninterrupted, allowing the practice to continue delivering essential services while seamlessly transitioning into a more advanced and efficient diagnostic environment.
